Artist Statement

I’ve always been fascinated about duality like: good-evil, in-out or love-hate. When two or more opposite feelings exist, duality appears.

Portraits are about revealing aspects of an individual and most of the times that individual wants you to see something entirely different then what he or she is feeling and when this happens, I intervene. I try to figure out what each subject is experiencing and portray those feelings the best way I can. Often times I pile up my own emotions because it’s an automatic reflex to feel something when you interact with your surroundings.

I believe that our reactions are meaningful because by having them we can take decisions and learn how to reveal them. We can’t read peoples minds but we can understand their emotions and this is what I want to capture in my art.

In my practice I was always afraid of drawing and after years and years of trying to find myself and my artistic style, I finally realized that facing my fear of drawing and gradually including it in my works has slowly eliminated all my doubts and made me more confident in myself.

I strive to use line, color, and different textures to create a sense of balance and harmony within my work while stirring up curiosity and contemplation in viewers.

The inspiration comes from a variety of sources including music, nature, and everyday life. The beauty of this journey is that I can play with a lot of tools and try out different mediums, so there are no restrictions in my process.

For myself, combining traditional media with digital is mind-blowing as it allows me to reuse my photography and blend it with my drawings or paintings. At the end of the creative process a collage of old and new is born, which is very satisfying.

My art represents both my best and my worst, a culmination of all that I’ve experienced on this planet.
